Pay scale ( वेतन ) : Will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
Desirable qualifications ( वांछनीय योग्यता ) : The incumbent will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Geography / Bachelors in Environmental Science or Equivalent with specialization in working with GIS and web-hosting
Experience requirements ( अनुभव ) : 2-3 years of experience preferable. Enthusiastic fresher with knowledge and experience of working on GIS on web platforms maybe considered as well.
Desired skills ( वांछित कौशल ) : The incumbent will demonstrate technical knowledge and expertise in GIS as follows: 1. Knowledge about the technical aspects of geospatial data management and utilization. 2 Ability to work in the field and collect the required geospatial information. 3. Experience of data collection, entry & maintenance, and web hosting of the same; 4. Hands on experience of working with the GIS software (Desktop GIS, spatial DBMS, web map server and related tools), Remote Sensing tools (Image processing and Classification), coordinate geometry, data conversion and validation, spatial analysis and geo-visualisation. 5. Knowledge about data collection, data processing and evaluation, organizing the collection, storage and usage of geographic data. 6. Ability to solve GIS-specific problems and convey GIS information to non-GIS professionals. 7. Ability to collate and organize that data in a manner bestsuited to present the work both online and offline (i.e. provide inputs for presentations and publications); 8. Planning & Organizing – Ability to coordinate the work of others, work to tight deadlines and handle multiple concurrent projects/activities. 9. Teamwork – Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries 10. Other tasks assigned related to the dissemination of CPR’s work on urban sanitation service delivery in small cities in India.
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :The main responsibility of GIS Specialist to provide technical assistance,focusing on geospatial technology application to support the accreditation process by collecting data, mapping and zoning the study area and creating thematic maps as directed. The incumbent will technically support the creation, conversion, updating and maintenance of GIS database as well as coordinate the production of maps and uploading the same on a web platform so as to make it available for other users to use. S/he will work closely with other colleagues in the SCI-FI Project team (part of the Urbanisation Group at CPR)
